Compliant incentives & QR funnels

1 Jul 2026 · 1 min

QR codes on packaging are fine — where they lead and what the reward is tied to is what matters. What's safe, what's risky, with examples.

Compliant vs. risky funnels

Compliant funnel
  • QR → warranty registration or claim page
  • Reward given for completing the claim
  • Review asked neutrally: "share your honest experience"
  • Same flow for every customer, every rating
Risky funnel
  • QR → "rate us first" screen that branches
  • Reward released only after a review is detected
  • Copy mentioning stars, ratings or "positive"
  • Amazon link shown only to 4–5 star responses

Choosing the incentive

Extended warranties and next-order coupons are the safest hooks — customers want them anyway, and they attach naturally to registration rather than reviewing. Cashback works when the payout is for the claim, never the review. ReviewBuddie's eight promotion types are all structured this way out of the box.
